Chris Buzelli’s oil on paper method method is unique enough. But it is undoubtedly his Surrealistic style has won him the favor of The Village Voice, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Playboy and others. His ability to fuse a reality into the most unreal of images is uncanny. In this piece, DNA the image interplays a wide-eyed little boy with a DNA helix spiral moving in the direction of the little, red airplane in his hand connoting a “sky’s the limit” kind of hope. But also there is an interesting sepia tone to the sky in the background which may suggest a past bleakness as with the subject of the Muscular Dystrophy the painting was used to highlight.
