Here on the Outskirts, creativity is measure by how much one is willing to do what is rare, unorthodox, and exciting in the world of the arts. Enter: Singapore native and art school dropout Zhang Jingna (a.ka. zemotion). At age 20 and with only two years experience with professional camera equipment, she has become a substantial favorite among photography viewers on the popular art site deviantART with over seven million views worldwide and multiple professional contracts!

Zhang’s lavish yet vulnerable style has landed her professional shoots with Harper’s Bazaar and Mercedes Benz as well worldwide bigwigs Ogilvy & Mather Advertising (Taiwan) and Architecture International among many others. In 2007, she became the youngest ever recipient of Associateship in the Masters Photographers Association, and later that year was also awarded the honor of the Singapore Master Photographer title.

Her style is surreal and fanciful with a power and gravitas that can only be described as spiritual. Below is some of her work from 2007 and 2008.
